A very common question and a very common concern, "Can I breastfeed after getting breast implants?"
Although many medical professionals claim "Yes", understand both the question and the answer in its entirety.
Yes, most women will be physically able to breastfeed after getting breast implants, but ask yourself the question, "Do you want to breastfeed knowing that breastfeeding a newborn with the physical presence of medical devices (your breast implants) are at the direct source of milk production?"
One thing we are aware of is the reporting medical device risks worldwide is broken ultimately keeping serious breast-implant-related health incidents a mystery (or secret). The lack of regulated and mandatory reporting systems for surgeons, medical professionals, medical device manufacturers, and more have enabled the 'avoidance' of such reporting.
Is it Worth the Potential Risk?
We are becoming increasingly aware that the risks of getting breast implants are far higher than we have ever been told in the past. And if we have been told the risks, some are buried deeper down than others. Furthermore, even if you had your breast implants removed, the risk of any remaining toxins in the leftover capsules and surrounding tissues still pose a potential risk to both yourself and your newborn. The lack of evidence and research alone (intentional or otherwise) should be your red flag.
If you are asking the question, odds are you are deeply concerned. Why not take precautions and mitigate the risk?
