Gratitude

By Ariel Colhoun Passionate about increasing the sphere of influence for women & driving positive change.

When you are bustling along with your everyday life, it is so easy to forget how rich of a life we all really live. No matter where you live in the world, your life is marked by so many different experiences, relationships, triumphs, and sorrows. All so different, yet that is why we are so rich. Humans are capable of experiencing such a wide range of emotions.

Allocating a limited amount of time to the ‘not-so-good’ emotions we experience should be part of your every day routine and writing it all down in a journal will help you to release the negative thoughts and emotions. A self-disciplined approach to negative emotions is a must if you want to break free from a negative spin cycle. Allow yourself the time you need to process any negative emotions and focus on the takeaways.

Focus on answering questions such as:

  • What did you learn?

  • Why you are feeling the way you do?

  • How can you move forward?

  • Once you start releasing all your negative emotions you will make room for all the positive energies to fill this space.

Learn to focus on the positive and being grateful for all that you have. And the more you focus on gratitude, the more you will come to the self-realization that devoting time to negativity is wasteful. In the words of Willie Nelson, "When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around."

The time is now to fill our cracks with ‘Wishing Gold’

The time is now for everyone to start following their passions, fulfilling their aspirations, and weeding out all the things that distract us from our personal goals. The benefits that would arise from a world of wholesome intention and invention for all would be infinite. Fulfilled dreams and desires would help fill all the tiny cracks in all the broken and disconnected souls similar to that of Kintsugi – the ancient Japanese art of filling broken pottery with gold. The increase in positivity alone would lead to happier moments for all and the feeling of true contentment.

The results would facilitate a much more supportive environment – maybe we would be less critical of others, and society on the whole would not actively judge or criticize others. The fulfillment of just one long-awaited aspiration, wish, hope, dream, or goal would give everyone a taste of accomplishment. And that exhilarating feeling of actually living life for you, and doing the things you want to do, would leave more people wanting to follow their dreams from inception through to goals of fulfillment.

Remember ... every day you wake up is a new day – a brand new day to start to live your life the way you want to. It’s time to find gold in the little things. Every day is an opportunity to reset. If we all woke up passionate about what we do, and more importantly, love what we do – the impact of all our collective aspirations would create the most remarkable ripple effect.
