Perseverance & Resilience

By Ariel Colhoun Passionate about increasing the sphere of influence for women & driving positive change.

Throughout your life you will be tested, and tested, and tested again. And without doubt, each and every time you will question your choices along the way. We have a natural tendency to worry about things that may or may not happen. Stop worrying about what is going to happen and worry about how you will respond to all the tests. You will need to learn to draw upon your strengths of self-knowledge, awareness, determination, perseverance, and resilience to help you navigate the ups and downs. Learn to effectively shift your responses and alter your course where required.

To follow your wishes, you need to truly give 100% of yourself and give it your all. Your efforts must be consistent and steady. If there is a fork in the road, it doesn’t matter which way you go, as long as it is you that wants to go in that direction. When you come upon stumbling stones, roadblocks, or when your passion appears to fade, navigate through the best way that you are able to at the time. Be resilient, dust yourself off, and always get back up again. The human soul is remarkably resilient and you can bounce back from anything. Learn to let go of all the anxiety and fear that you may feel and continue on. Nothing ever comes without a little perseverance.

Sometimes it is at the end of the road, when we finally complete something that we’ve been consistently longing for, that all the pieces fall into place and everything begins to make sense. When the ‘big’ day comes and you fulfill a wish, you will feel a sense of personal accomplishment and you will really begin to comprehend the fruits of your efforts. The long and winding road that led you to making your wish come true will no longer remain a mystery. You will quickly realize that you are the cause for your success and everything is possible if you believe in it.

Recharge your soul

Sometimes we need to be reminded to allow our bodies time to catch up with that of our souls. It is very easy to get caught up in your daily work routine and neglect the most important factor - you! Take a look at your life right now. How much time do you actually allocate to you and only you? What effort do you make to nourish your mind, body, and soul? Taking care of you should be at the top of your wish list. A healthy lifestyle is a must. A balanced diet and exercise need to be amongst your top priorities, then everything else follows. If you are not healthy in mind and have full potential for your given body and soul, you are no good to anyone else.

Recharging your soul incorporates all those activities that are important to you. It’s about unplugging from everything that brings you down, unplugging from those electronic devices that can suck the life out of you, and tuning into you. It’s about living a life that you are proud of. It’s about loving what you do. If you want to live the dream, you need to have everything in balance.

How you spend your time each day contributes to your success. If you live a balanced life, you are effortlessly recharging your soul when you play, but also when you work. I always say life is short so you need to have fun. Make your days filled with joy and laughter. Surround yourself with like-minded people. Don’t take things too seriously and relieve any stress built up inside you. Live a life with no regret and enjoy every moment that you can.
