Practice & Then Practice Some More

The challenge of optimism

I believe being optimistic versus pessimistic may be the biggest challenge for anyone to overcome. Remaining optimistic in the toughest of times can potentially be a real struggle for your innermost thoughts and feelings. Know that the only way to overcome these types of challenges is through recognizing your faults and improving upon them through practice.

As with all things in life that we want to get better at, our only guide is practice. And the more you practice, the more prepared your mind will be, the better you will get, and you will slowly and carefully transform your outlook. Your true benefit will be achieved through self-imposed practice and repetitive effort.

Are your emotions under control?

A good way to assess whether or not you have your emotions under control often comes to light when you are faced with a critical situation or decision to be made. Often these situations will reveal your true nature and how effective your self-regulation really is.

You are the only person who knows you best.

Recognize your own warning signs of your potential negative reactions and behaviour when they begin to occur. Learn to stop negative conversations dead in their tracks or simply change the subject. Care and attentiveness to your thoughts is essential. This will be an effective guideline for you on your path to self-regulation to get you on the right track and keep an optimistic outlook.

The way we think, act, and speak can all be transformed when we self-regulate our emotions. If we are successful at doing this, we open up new doors of experience, new ways of doing things, and a whole new perspective on life and our own capabilities.
