The New 'Norm'
With the onset of the sudden global pandemic and the new 'norm' of staying home, so many of us are worrying about our loved ones, the loss of income, the impacts on a global economy, and so much more. Many of us have been forced to redefine ourselves, our roles, our identities. As an artist, I have watched my budding career come to a crippling halt as art fairs, and galleries have been forced to close. Longing for the days when artists were able to meet with clients, talk about art and create connections. Forced to rely on online displays of my work, the connection is lost, and the sales are limited.
When forced to confront the reality of this pandemic, we can either stand by and watch and wait, or we can take charge, adapt and move forward. I am focusing on the latter. Although my art remains a priority of each day, I have embraced the opportunity to learn new skills, awaken hidden passions and learn new things.
I have embraced daily trail runs with a new appreciation of my physical body and all that she is capable of. I have started to learn to play the piano, something I never was inclined to do before. I have experimented with my art in ways I do not believe I would have without this pandemic.
Embracing New Adventures
I have embraced a new adventure and started as an independent sales representative of activewear (ZYIA). Not only has this willingness to step outside my comfort zone allowed me to expand my lounge/activewear wardrobe (woo hoo), it has allowed me to see a new side of myself that I have never seen before. The woman who is unafraid of the unknown, who confidently strives to be the very best version of herself. A woman who is capable, strong, smart and driven.
