The Human Heart

By Ariel Colhoun Passionate about increasing the sphere of influence for women & driving positive change.

I have often been told I wear my heart on my sleeve. I think this is a good thing. Many decisions I make are based on the intuition of my heart. Yes, sometimes making emotional decisions will lead you down a path that may have more downs than ups, but it can also do quite the opposite and bring you more ups than downs. Everything in life is a risk but I trust what my heart tells me. I will never regret following my heart.

Believe it or not, your heart actually plays a bigger role in guiding your intuition than you may realise. According to neurocardiologists the heart contains neurons, however, it is important to not confuse the neurons in your heart with actual brain cells. The neurons in your heart are specialized neurons for your heart. This notion does lead to interesting theories and some people have speculated that the heart may in fact contribute to the consciousness of your soul. The heart and the brain are always in constant communication and the heart affects every part of the human body. The thoughts and emotions felt by both have a direct impact on their well-being. Positive feelings contribute to a healthy heart and a healthy brain, and vice-versa, negative thoughts have a not-so-healthy affect. I believe the neurons found in both your brain and your heart are able to connect, communicate, and assist in the decision–making process by using both logic and intuition. Maybe this is why we think through our hearts.

The human heart also has hidden powers. Not only does the heart have its own electrical supply, but researchers are also claiming that the human heart generates a stronger electromagnetic field than that of the brain, or any other organ within the human body. It is said that this field can be felt as much as 3 feet away, in all directions. So if this is the case, you can in fact be a love magnet – attracting more love and dampening the effect of negative feelings of those around you.

For centuries we have witnessed endless discoveries and great advancements in technology. I feel that an area that needs further investigation in particular, is human energy combined with the human brain, the human heart, and the interaction with the energy of the world around us, including the far reaches of our universe. At a bare minimum, by better understanding the roots of our existence, the sheer fabric of all life, and our innate desire to wish will only add to our purpose and bring more meaning to our lives. Finding your true purpose and following your passions has tremendous healing effects by allowing you to love yourself for the way that you are, and be who you long to be.
